York Ebor Meeting 2011 - Yorkshire Oaks Betting - Blue Bunting Wins For Godolphin

This is the big race for Fillies at the York Ebor meeting and is one of the most prestigious races on the racing calendar in the UK. It is a Group One for three year old fillies and older and is very often contested by fillies who have either won or come close to winning the Epsom or Irish Oaks. Indeed Alexandrova won both of these races in 2006 before taking the honours in this, giving her an Oaks treble

The Yorkshire Oaks is a race that is more often not won by horses from the really big yards, such as Sir Michael Stoute or Aiden O'Brien. Stoute has had four winners in this race in the past 10 years so will be a trainer worth keeping an eye on when the betting is released for 2011. The star fillie so far this season has been Blue Blunting and the 1000 Guineas winner will be looking for more success in this one for Godolphin and Frankie Dettori.

The Godolphin pace maker did his job well and Blue Bunting went past Wonder Of Wonders heading into the final furlong. Vita Nova came with a late charge but she was unable to wear down Blue Bunting who gained her third Group 1 win of the year with Frankie on board.

Midday was the clear winner after Sariska decided to stay in the stalls in a huge shock, Snow Fairy ran a decent race but was nowhere near Midday who continued her great form.
