Nunthorpe Stakes Betting 2011

The Nunthorpe Stakes has been around for over 100 years but in the past it was just a low grade selling race to begin but became a Conditions race in 1922 and has been ever since. It is a Group One level race and carries prize money of close to £250.000 making it one of the key races at the York Ebor Meeting.

It is raced over 5 furlongs and usually attracts the top sprinters around, including two year olds as it is one of the few races that 2 year olds get to challenge their older rivals over a sprint. The last 2 year old to win was Kingsgate Native in 2007 and the oldest horse to win over the last 30 years was Bahamian Pirate in 2004. This year there is plenty of money coming for Hoof It who has been added to the field after his brilliant Stewards Cup win at Glorious Goodwood recently.
