Lowther Stakes

This Group Two is the top race for two year old fillies at the York Ebor meeeting and it is raced over a distance of six furlongs. it is named after Hugh Lowther who was the fifth Earl of Lonsdale.

Top Trainers to follow in this race include, Richard Hannon, Mick Channon and Sir Michael Stoute who have all saddled four winners. Channon in fact has trained three winners of the race in the last nine years, but last year the winner, Lady Of The Desert came from the emerging yard of Brian Meehan. Maqaasid looks set to be the warm favourite here after two succesive victories, he goes for John Gosden with Richard Hills on board for the ride.
