Juddmonte International Stakes 2010 Betting

The International Stakes is a Group One and the richest and most prestigious race to take place at the York Ebor Meeting. It currently has prize money of over £600,000. It is often referred to as the Juddmonte Stakes and was formerly known as the Benson & Hedges Gold Cup. It has had many famous winners down the years, including Sea the Stars from last year. However its most famous participant was a horse that failed to win as it was the only race that the great Brigadier Gerard lost, when he came second to Roberto in 1973.

Top jockeys in the race have been Lester Piggott, who won five times between 1974 and 1992 and Frankie Dettori who has won five times since 1996. Leading trainer is Sir Michael Stoute with five wins, the latest being Notnowcato in 2006. The International Stakes is held on York Ebor Festival Day One

This year it is shaping up to be a cracking renewal with the potential appearance of Rip Van Winkle in the race, the Aidan O'Brien horse is a group 1 winner and he is the clear favourite after the injury of Harbinger. Likely to oppose him are the Khalid Abdullah duo of Twice Over and Byword who both have th potential to run a big race at York.

A cracking race for the feature race of the day as Byword and Twice Over fought it out over the final two furlongs, Rip Van Winkle finished strongly though and he got up to pip the pair of them after needing every inch of the trip on the Knavesmire.
